The season 2025 will bring major changes to the scene's competitive League of Legends in Europe, with a redesign significant both in the Super league Spanish as in the ERLs (European Regional Leagues). From next year, the format of three splits that are already applied in the LEC since two seasons ago is to extend to all the regional leagues, including the Super league.
Format of three splits, and three EMEA Masters annual
The main novelty will be the adoption of a format of three splits, which will structure the season from January to August. Each of these splits will culminate in the corresponding EMEA Masterswith the first split developed from January to march, the second from April to June, and the third of July to August. After the third split in September will be held the end of each ERL, and finally, the third EMEA Masters of the year.
In addition, in the Super league, the top four teams of the season will compete in a final tournament, called the ‘The end of Super league’to decide the absolute champion of the year.
Disappearance of the Second Division
Another significant change is the disappearance of the Super League Second. From 2025, as there will be a second traditional division in Spain. In its place, the Circuit Storm, which until now has been an amateur circuit, it will become the second category is competitive in the country. This will create a more competitive jump between the Super league and the Circuit Storm, modifying also the system of promotion and relegation, which now will involve the teams with the worst performance in the Super league and to the best of the Circuit by Storm.
According to the LVP and retransmissions until 2027
The LVP (League of Videogames Professional) will continue to be in charge of managing and re-broadcast the Super league until at least 2027, after reaching an agreement with Riot Games. Although it's missing some details for the close and the signature official, everything points to this agreement will ensure a continuity in the production of the events and their diffusion in Spain.
A 2025 full of changes
With these settings, 2025 promises to be a crucial year for the League of Legends competitive in Europe. The extension to three splits, the restructuring of the pyramid competitive and the evolution of the Circuit-Storm offer new opportunities, but also challenges for the teams and players. All of this reflects the commitment of Riot Games keep the scene competitive in constant evolution.
Now it only remains to see how you will adapt both the Super league as the regional leagues to this new format, and if these modifications will further promote the competitive level in Europe.
